Shimla, August 23: At least 11 people have been killed in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu after a car rolled down a hill on Thursday. According to a tweet by ANI, the fatal accident took place near Rohtang at Rani Nallah in Kullu district of the hill state. More details are awaited. On Tuesday, a similar accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district where a vehicle carrying Machail Yatra pilgrims fell into a deep gorge in the Dool area. 12 Yatra pilgrims lost their lives while a five-year-old child survived the accident.

Earlier this month, three people travelling in a taxi had a miraculous escape after their vehicle met with an accident in Himachal's Kullu district. According to a report by ANI, the incident took place at the mountainous Patlikuhal-Pangah road in Kullu. The occupants of the car jumped out after it skidded off the landslide-battered road and hit an uprooted tree.

In wake of the monsoon season, driving on treacherous roads in the mountains gets riskier. Hill states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand see a rise in road accidents during the rainy season.

On August 5, one person was killed and six others injured as a Patiala-bound bus met with an accident allegedly due to rash and negligent driving in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district.  The bus, with nearly 10 passengers on board, was on its way to Patiala in Punjab from Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh. According to a report by PTI, the PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus skidded off the road and rolled down about 100 meters from the road at Dhagoh near Tunnuhatti.
