The weather office in Mumbai has said that very intense spells of rain are likely to continue in the districts of Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Raigad during the next few hours. According to forecast, high tides of about 4.59 meters expected in Mumbai at around 11.52 am on July 2.

Mumbai, July 2: Heavy rainfall continued to lash Mumbai even on Tuesday, causing waterlogging and flooding of tracks at several railway stations across the city.  While Mumbai is being battered by the monsoon rains, extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Vidarbha and east Madhya Pradesh too, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday. The heavy downpour resulted in flood-like situations in several areas of the city, leading to traffic congestion on roads. Catch Live Updates of Mumbai Rains Here.

According to details on Tide Forcast's website, high tides of about 4.59 meters expected in Mumbai at around 11.52 am on July 2. High tides occur due to the gravitational pull between the earth and the moon. According to IMD, clouds have been observed over north Maharashtra coast including Mumbai. The impact of the changing weather conditions is likely over south Gujarat and adjoining areas. "Intermittent heavy showers expected in Mumbai today.Extremely heavy rainfall,over 200 mm recorded at many places in city; more towards suburbs in last 24 hrs", the IMD said.

In the wake of the heavy rainfall in the city, the state government has declared July 2 as a public holiday. "In wake of the extremely heavy rainfall forecast by the IMD, the Government of Maharashtra has declared a public holiday on 2nd July as a precautionary measure for Mumbai city and its citizens," said BMC CPRO.
