Mumbai, August 3: High tide is expected in Mumbai even as heavy rainfall continued to lash the city since early Saturday morning, causing water-logging and flooding of tracks at several railway stations across the city on all three lines - Western, Central and Harbour. While Mumbai is being battered by the monsoon rains, extremely heavy rainfall is being reported from Palghar, parts of Maharashtra and Vadodara in Gujarat. The heavy downpour resulted in flood-like situations in the 'Maximum City', leading to traffic congestion on roads. Among the hardest hit parts in Mumbai are Thane and Malad. Heavy water-logging has been reported in Thane as flood like scenes emerge from the streets.
Palghar Collector Kailash Shinde has issued orders that all schools and colleges in Palghar will remain closed today, in view of continuous rainfall in the area. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted, "Intense rainfall to continue in North Konkan areas including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar for the next 4-6 hours."
