Heavy Rains In North India: 16 People Die In Uttar Pradesh, Waterlogging Reported In Delhi-NCR

Heavy rains have lashed Uttar Pradesh again. As many as 16 people reported dead in the state in the past 24 hours due to heavy rains and lightning.

Lucknow, September 2: Heavy rains have lashed Uttar Pradesh again. As many as 16 people reported dead in the state in the past 24 hours due to heavy rains and lightning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in the state over the next three days. Heavy showers have also lashed parts of Delhi-NCR since Saturday.

According to reports, waterlogging took place at Pragati Maidan, Ring Road area, South Avenue, Moti Bagh and several other places in the national capital due to rains. According to IMD, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and North-eastern states are likely to witness heavy rains over the next two days. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand is expected to be hit by heavy to very heavy rains over the next three days.

The hill state may face flash floods due to heavy showers, reported Skymetweather. Water and mud reported having entered houses situated on banks of Chuflagad River in Chamoli following heavy rains. Ganga River in Haridwar is flowing near the danger mark. On Friday, water was reported to have entered low-lying areas in Haripurkalan as the Ganga here was flowing at 292.80 metres.
