New Delhi, May 29: The heatwave in summers are most likely to rise in the coming 3-4 days in the northern belt, as maximum temperature might hover around 45º C in the plains and 30º C in the hilly areas, predicts India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday. The heatwave condition might become severe in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in teh coming days.

According to the latest information from the Met Department, the heatwave condition might worsen in North Western states like Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Also, People in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Telangana need to take extra caution to stay protected from the heatwave, as in all these states the temperature is expected to cross 40 degrees Celsius mark. Pre-Monsoon Rainfall From March to May Deficit Drops to 22%: IMD 

Informing more, Deputy Director General of IMD - BP Yadav - said, "We are experiencing the first heatwave spell in the northern belt. Heatwave conditions might become severe in the coming 3-4 days in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh. No thunderstorm/rain shower expected."

Maintaining that the rains would strike only after June 10 in northern areas, IMD experts opined that the south-west monsoon which is expected to make its onset over the Kerala coast on June 6 remains sluggish over the Andaman Sea. However, conditions are likely to become favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Islands and the north Andaman Sea during the next 72 hours.
