In the wake of the rising mercury levels, the Odisha government has directed all its schools to hold classes from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM from April 2. According to reports, Odisha likely to witness a heat wave in the coming days. In the wake of the changing weather conditions, the state government has directed schools, both public and private, to conduct morning classes from April 2. According to a circular issued on Saturday, the state authorities have ordered schools to hold classes beginning from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM while mid-day meals to be served at 10:00 AM. The noticed mentioned saying that in no case, the school would remain open beyond 11:00 AM. Moreover, schools have been directed to complete assessment and examinations by March 30, during which it is mandatory to provide drinking water and first aid. The authorities said that headmasters should be instructed to make provision of drinking water in the schools where the tube wells are not available. Moreover, they should also advice the students to come to school with umbrellas and water bottles during the summer season.
In the wake of the probable heat wave, the state government said physical training should be made optional for students in summer. The circular added saying that summer vacation for the students of all the students of private and public schools and will commence on May 06.
