Health Ministry Shares Sero-Surveillance Study Report for National Capital, Says 'Only 23.48% of People Are Affected With COVID-19 in Delhi'
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday shared the report on the sero-surveillance study in Delhi and said that on an average the prevalence of IgG antibodies is 23.48 per cent in the national capital. The ministry stated that the study showed a large number of infected persons remain asymptomatic in New Delhi.
New Delhi, July 21: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday shared the report on the sero-surveillance study in Delhi and said that on an average the prevalence of IgG antibodies is 23.48 per cent in the national capital. The ministry stated that the study showed a large number of infected persons remain asymptomatic in New Delhi.
Informing about the details, The Health Ministry noted, "The results of the sero-prevalence study in Delhi show that on an average, across the capital, the prevalence of IgG antibodies is 23.48 per cent. The study also indicates that a large number of infected persons remain asymptomatic." The ministry added that the results can be attributed to efforts taken by the government as well as citizen compliance to COVID-19 appropriate behaviours. Here's what the Union Ministry said:
Earlier, the Union Health Ministry commissioned a sero-surveillance study and conducted the study for all the 11 districts in Delhi from June 27, 2020, to July 10, 2020. For the study blood samples were collected after taking written consent from selected individuals. Following this, the Ministry tested the samples for IgG antibodies and infection using COVID KAVACH ELISA approved by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR). It is to be known that for the study, 21,387 samples were collected as per lab standards.
