New Delhi, December 2: Users of the HDFC Bank were left stranded on Monday evening as the lender's online transaction services suffered an outage. The netbanking feature could not be accessed by customers due to a technical glitch. The mobile app was also hit by the outage. "Due to a technical glitch, some of our customers have been having trouble logging into our Net Banking and Mobile Banking App. Our experts are working on it on top priority, and we’re confident we’ll be able to restore services shortly," said the statement issued HDFC Bank Customer Care on social media.
The private lender said that it deeply regrets the outage of services but underlined there is no other crisis besides a technical glitch. The services, it said, would be restored as soon as possible. "While we deeply regret the inconvenience caused, there’s no cause for undue concern,” the bank tweeted.

The outage of online banking services for several hours drew sharp reaction from some HDFC Bank users. Some of the customers tagged the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and called for the setting up of a framework under which the banks would be mandated to pay a fine to customers if their services fail, similar to the manner in which the customers are charged for late payment.
