Bengaluru, August 13: In the latest development, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked him not to shift Aero India Show out of Bengaluru. In the letter, Kumaraswamy stated, “I would seek your indulgence in the matter to convey approval of Government of India for conduction of Aero India show-2019 in Bengaluru.” The chief minister’s letter comes at the time when the media reports surfaced that the government is mulling to move the event to Lucknow.

However, Union Minister Ananth Kumar has denied the reports. Talking to media, Kumar said, “Defence Minister hasn't said anything about Aero show shifting from Bengaluru to Lucknow, in fact it has been said that Lucknow doesn't have required infrastructure. All Karnataka MPs will make a representation in this regard as well.”

Earlier in the day, CNN News18 reported that the Indian Air Force (IAF) had also raised concerns on the government’s move to shift the show from Bengaluru to Lucknow. As per sources, Bakshi Ka Talaab on the outskirts of Lucknow does not have the necessary infrastructure to hold the event. Since 1996, the event has always been held at Yelahanka in Bengaluru.

A meeting was also held on Monday by The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council to discuss the issue. According to International Business Times, Bengaluru Mayor Sampath Raj also wrote a letter to Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman requesting her not to shift the show out of Bengaluru. Earlier today, The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council conducted a meeting to discuss the issue.
