Chandigarh, Sept 10: A woman head constable of the Haryana police has alleged rape by a man, whom she knows since 2014, and his brother, who is also a head constable. The complaint was lodged with the Palwal police station, which has initiated probe into the case.

Palwal superintendent of police Waseem Akram said the main accused in the case, Joginder alias Mintu, had met the women in Mahendragarh nearly four years ago.

The victim was in touch with Joginder ever since, and had been allegedly raped thrice during her postings in Jind, Faridabad and Palwal, the SP added.

"During the investigation, it has been found that the accused Joginder is married and has two children. The complainant is also married," Akram told news agency PTI, adding that the victim is also married.

The woman did not approach the police earlier, the SP added, as Joginder had allegedly coerced her into silence with her objectionable photographs, which he had threatened to release if she files an FIR.

In June 2017, Joginder allegedly took the victim to his brother - a head constable with the Faridabad police - who also raped her.

On Sunday, reports had claimed that the woman approached the police after being "gangraped" inside the Palwal police station premises. Dismissing the reports, SP Akram said they are "baseless".
