Haryana Shocker: Woman, Lover Kill 11-Year Old Daughter, Pack Body and Dumps in Canal

The accused have been identified as Lakshmi Devi and Amit Kumar. Both the accused are residents of Sadar Bazar area of Karnal. According to details by Police, Lakshmi had separated from her husband but her daughter, named Sonam, used to live with her.

Karnal, February 1: In a shocking incident, a woman and her paramour (lover) were arrested for allegedly murdering the woman’s 11-year-old daughter in Haryana's Karnal. Reports inform that both of them were arrested two days after the girl’s decomposed body was found on the banks of Western Yamuna Canal in Karnal. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the duo murdered the girl, packed the body in a plastic bag and dumped it near the canal. The accused have been identified as Lakshmi Devi and Amit Kumar, both residents of Sadar Bazar area of Karnal. Reports inform that the woman got into a relationship with Amit a few months ago and feared that her daughter may tell about her illicit relationship to her father and grandparents. Fearing this, Lakshmi and her paramour made a plan and killed her. During interrogation, when Lakshmi was questioned, she admitted that she killed her daughter with her lover’s help. The woman also revealed that after the murder, she packed her daughter’s body in a plastic bag and dumped it near the canal. According to Police, the body was recovered on Tuesday from a highly decomposed state near the canal. The HT report quotes police saying that Sonam’s father had earlier filed a complaint under Section 363 (kidnapping) and 366 A (abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) of the IPC) on January 20 after she went missing.
