Chandigarh, December 18: Haryana Police on Tuesday arrested two government school teachers for allegedly sexually harassing female students. The horrific incident surfaced after 40 female students from classes 5 to 10 narrated the horror to a child protection officer about the harassment. The officer was conducting a workshop on educating students about improper contact. The third teacher is still absconding. “Students inside a government school have been harassed by their teachers. We have statements of 40 children who say the teachers threatened them with failure in exams if they did not comply with demands,” reported NDTV quoting Sunita Yadav, the child protection officer. According to the report, students were sexually harassed inside a laboratory on school premises and others at places inside the compound where there were no CCTV cameras. The teachers also threatened students of dare consequences if they tell anybody. They also reportedly used to call students early before school timings and threatened them to fail them in exams.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in the case. As per the FIR, only campus area of the school is covered with CCTV cameras.
