Haryana, December 14: A shocking incident has come to light from Panipat where a 19-year-old youth has died after succumbing to injuries following getting beaten up by the family of a 16-year-old girl for eloping with her last month in Karnal. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Kumar, and he was working as a driver for a businessman. Reportedly, the victim had eloped with the daughter of his employer three weeks ago.

On the complaint of the girl’s family, police had booked the victim on November 25, under the charges of kidnapping. As per the report published by the Hindustan Times, the victim's family alleged that unknown people had thrashed their son on November 26, after the couple was tracked down in Delhi. The victim was admitted to a private hospital in Panipat from where he was rushed to KCGMC, Karnal. On the complaint of the brother of the deceased, an FIR has been registered against 14 people including father, brother, sister, and other relatives of the girl at Sector 29 police station in Panipat. The victim's family has demanded strict police action against the accused. The body has been sent for an autopsy and action will be taken as per findings of the probe, said police.
