Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Dr Chander Hass presided over the case, delivering the verdict. According to the Times of India report, the accused, identified as Sandeep and a native of the same village as the victim, had allegedly sexually assaulted the 16-year-old boy when the family was not at home.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, had his mother file a complaint with the Safidon police station in Jind district on April 7, 2022. The complaint alleged that while the family was away, the accused, Sandeep, a resident of the same village, entered their home and sexually assaulted the minor. The mother arrived home during the incident, causing the accused to flee while making threats. The accused faced charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Section 377 (unnatural sex), Section 450 (house-trespass with intent to commit an offence punishable with life imprisonment), and Section 506 (criminal intimidation). Following an exhaustive investigation, the accused was chargesheeted on July 27, 2022. The court, after examining substantial evidence presented by the local police, including medical reports, concluded that the accused was guilty of the crime. In addition to the 20-year prison sentence, Sandeep was fined Rs 20,000, with an additional two years of simple imprisonment in case of default.
