Panchkula, November 17: In a shocking incident, a delivery man in Haryana died after falling into a manhole while he was on his way to distribute some pamphlets in Panchkula on Friday. Reports inform that the man was found dead inside an Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) water-supply manhole near his house. According to a report by Indian Express, the body of the man, identified as Tarsem Gupta, was found on the Sector 15-16 dividing road of Panchkula on Saturday afternoon. The victim is survived by two sons and wife.

As per details available, the pamphlets that Tarsem had planned to distribute, were also found near the manhole. An official was quoted in the report saying that the man was likely on his way to distribute the pamphlets when he fell into the manhole. As per investigation, the victim had set out of his house around 7.30 pm on Friday and officials say that it seems that the man might have fallen into the pit by accident and died at the spot.

The incident surfaced after the victim’s family had gotten suspicious when Tarsem did not return even after 9.30 pm. The family members searched for him but was nowhere to be found. Later, the family filed an FIR at the Sector 14 police station. Manhole Claims Another Life in Mumbai.

Inspector Karambir, SHO Crime Branch informed that a FIR was registered into the incident, under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. According to the report, the victim’s body was spotted by a sanitation worker, following which he informed the police. The man was rushed to Civil Hospital Panchkula for post-mortem. DCP Kamaldeep Goyal was quoted in the report saying that the FIR holds the Public Health department accountable for the uncovered manhole.
