Gurugram, October 11: In a shocking incident, the uncle and minor cousin of a class 10 girl were arrested on October 10 for allegedly molesting her. The accused molested the class 10 girl in a village near Badshahpur in Haryana. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the 23-year-old uncle was sent to jail while the 16-year-old cousin was sent to a correctional home in Faridabad. The police have registered a case on Tuesday at Badshahpur police station against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to the report, the school authorities alerted the police about the crime after the 15-year-old victim wrote her ordeal in an answer sheet during a unit test examination on October 1. The school also informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials. The girl in her complaint alleged that she was assaulted by her cousin. Assistant commissioner of police, a crime against women and children (south), Shakuntala Yadav told Hindustan Times that the girl had also alleged that her uncle had groped and touched her inappropriately. The 23-year-old accused is her grandfather’s sister’s son and lives next to her house. The girl’s statement is yet to be recorded as she is traumatised due to the incident.
