Chandigarh, October 4: The Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on Wednesday, made some changes in guidelines for use of government vehicles by bureaucrats. Under the revised norms, bureaucrats will be charged Rs 1 per kilometre for non-official trips upto 1000 kilometres. The government will cost Rs 1000 per month for use of government vehicles.
The state government amended the existing guidelines and raised the amount paid by bureaucrats for use of government vehicles. Now, the bureaucrats will have to pay Rs 1,000 per month for using the attached official vehicle between residence and office and for non-official journeys up to 1,000 km every month. The ministers have been exempted from the purview of these guidelines.
Those who will have to the hiked charges are administrative secretaries, managing directors of boards and corporations, heads of departments, principal secretary to the chief minister and officer on special duty to the chief minister. The bureaucrats used to pay Rs 400 per month and 400 kilometre was the total limit for non-official travel.
The hiked amount would be deducted from the salary of bureaucrats unless he informed the government in writing that he has not been provided with any such vehicle. While the hiked charges will be applied to officials having government vehicle attached with them, no changes have been made for ministers who will pay Rs 400 per month only.
