Haryana: 22-Year Old Daughter Shot Dead by Father for Attending a Wedding Without His Permission

The girl was allegedly shot dead by her father in Mohan Nagar area of Kurukshetra district in the state. The deceased has been identified as Rubal, a BSc second year student at a private college in Kurukshetra.

Kurukshetra, December 16: In a shocking incident, a father killed his 22-year old daughter in Haryana for attending a wedding in the nearby area without his permission. The man allegedly shot dead his daughter in Mohan Nagar area of Kurukshetra district. The deceased has been identified as Rubal, a BSc second year student. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the Police has booked the father of the deceased, Rajiv Kumar, for the murder. As soon as the matter was reported, Police started an investigation into the matter. Police informed that the father wanted her to stay at home and study but she went to the wedding without his permission. Being angry after the daughter refused to obey him, the father took out his licensed gun and shot three rounds at his daughter. The HT report informs that the girl suffered injuries on her chest and stomach and was taken to private hospital but died during treatment. The body of the victim was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Reports inform that police are also not ruling out the possibility of honour killing. Kurukshetra city police station in-charge Jaspal Singh was quoted in the HT report saying that a case has been registered against the girl’s father. The accused has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
