Haryana: 19-Year-Old Youth Sentenced to Death After Court Convicts Him in 'Nirbhaya-like Rape Case'

A 19-year-old boy was sentenced to death by a Rewari court in Haryana for raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl in June earlier this year. Addition sessions Judge Naresh Kumar while pronouncing the verdict termed the crime as "rarest of rare".

Rewari, December 23: A 19-year-old boy was sentenced to death by a Rewari court in Haryana for raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl in June earlier this year. The victim's parents had taken her younger brother to a hospital. The convict, who was living in another room in the same house, lured the girl to his room by offering her sweets. He then tried to force himself on her. However, when she resisted, he tied her hands and legs. He also and gagged her so that nobody can hear her cries. The 19-year-old convict hid her body in his cupboard. When the girl's parents came, he misguided them. However, police doubted him because of the contradictory answers given by him during interrogation. The cops searched the convict’s room and recovered the body of the minor from his cupboard. The teen used to work in the same factory in which the girl’s father works. The boy was booked under Sections 372, section 376 and 201of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was convicted in all of them by the court.
