Gandhinagar, September 7: Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti chief Hardik Patel has been taken to a hospital following a deterioration in his health. He is on an indefinite hunger strike for 13 days, demanding reservations for Patidar community and loan waiver for farmers. According to media reports, earlier today, Patel has lost 20 kgs while fasting till now.
Hours after doctors expressed concern over his health, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government held a meeting with several key leaders of the Patidar community at Gandhinagar on Tuesday night. Doctors had earlier, expressed concern over his health and advised that Patel should be immediately admitted to a hospital. Questions have been raised on the Patidar leader’s fast as he has continually refused to provide blood or urine samples for the third consecutive day. The Gujarat government had also advised Patel to follow doctor’s advice.
Patel was also trolled on social media for gaining weight during the fast. However, media reports suggested that before the fast he was 78 kg and now his weight is 58 kg. Various political leaders backed Patel. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday supported Gujarat's Patidar leader Patel for his protest for loan waiver for farmers.
