Hardik Patel Found Guilty in Case Related to 2015 Patidar Violence

According to a tweet by ANI, the Visnagar Court pronounced Hardik guilty in a case related to vandalising BJP legislator Rushikesh Patel’s office in Visnagar during 2015 Patidar protests.

Mehsana, July 25: Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel on Wednesday has been convicted in Arson Case by the Visanagar Court. According to a tweet by ANI, the Visnagar Court pronounced Hardik guilty in a case related to vandalising BJP legislator Rushikesh Patel’s office in Visnagar during 2015 Patidar protests.

Hardik Patel, Lalji Patel and AK Patel have been awarded 2 years imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 50,000 each in the Patidar violence case. The court had earlier said that the maximum punishment for Hardik will be for a period of seven years.

Hardik has been accused of inciting violence with an intention to dislodge the government after a rally addressed by him turned violent in August 2015. At least 13 people had died in the violence. Earlier,  a case of sedition was registered against Patel and others by the crime branch following violence during an agitation in August 2015 demanding OBC reservation benefits for the Patidar community.
