Hampi, February 2: After a video of miscreants damaging pillars at Hampi, UNESCO World Heritage Site went viral on Social media, police inspected the site on Saturday. Speaking to news agency ANI, Bellary SP Arun Rangarajan assured arresting the accused soon. Rangarajan said, “There are likely 4-5 people involved in it. Accused will be arrested & prosecuted. In the video which went viral, the men can be seen toppling the ages-old pillars of the heritage site. The miscreants can also be seen rejoicing their act. Recently, Hampi bagged the second place on The New York Times ‘52 Places To Go In 2019’. The Group of Monuments at Hampi in Karnataka was a travel spot in the 15th and 16 centuries. It was added to the list of heritage sites in 1986. It has ruins of Vijayanagara, which was the former capital of the powerful Vijayanagara Empire.
