Gurugram, October 14: After shooting the wife and son of the additional sessions judge near a market in Gurugram’s Sector 49, the accused security guard, Mahipal Singh, reportedly kicked and abused the woman several times. During interrogation, Singh told the police that he had felt 'possessed' at the time of incident.
Singh, a resident of Bhungarka village in Narnaul, first fired at Ritu Sharma, wife of the additional sessions judge Krishan Kant Sharma. After she collapsed, he kicked and abused her. When her 18-year-old son, Dhruv Sharma, Singh aimed his services rewolver at him and shot him thrice, according to an eye-witness. Singh fled soon after, only to return and try to put the body of the son into the car’s rear seat. Having failed to do so, he left the spot, according to videos shot by onlookers. After the incident, he made three calls to Krishan Kant Sharma, who was in a meeting with district session judge R K Sondhi. He then spent half an hour with his friend named Kuku in Islampur village.
Singh was arrested two hours after the shooting from Gurugram-Faridabad Road on Saturday. During interrogation, he told the police that he was disturbed as he was being asked to run errands for the family, according to a Hindustan Times report. An officer said that Singh seemed mentally unstable and as if he had “some psychological issues”.
“The accused during interrogation said he was mentally disturbed and irritated as he was asked to take them to the market and he did not like doing household chores,” Gurugram police commissioner K K Rao was quoted as saying.
