The son of additional sessions judge, Dhruv, who was shot by his gunman on Saturday has been declared brain dead and the doctors treating him said that it would take nothing less than a miracle to save the life of the 18-year-old boy. Dhruv has been put on a life support system. Additional Sessions Judge Krishan Kant's wife Ritu (45) and son Dhruv (18) had gone for shopping in the Arcadia market Saturday when they were shot by Mahipal in the open in a crowded market. They were admitted to a hospital in critical condition. Ritu was shot in the stomach and shoulder and Dhruv was shot in his head by the personal security officer, Mahipal. Gurgaon Civil Hospital's Regional Medical Officer, Pawan Choudhary, had confirmed the death of Ritu. The reason for Ritu's death was excessive bleeding, said the post-mortem examination. Gurugram Firing: Wife of Additional Sessions Judge Succumbs to Injuries.

Coming to the investigation front, a Special Investigative Team (SIT) has been formed investigate the case. The Gurugram police has sought a week's custody of the accused so as to extensively interrogate Mahipal. The police is trying to ascertain the motive behind the killings, said reports.

A police official talking to the media said that Mahipal is constantly changing statements and getting increasingly furious whenever questioned about the killings. He has been claiming that he was depressed due to family problems, said reports. Reports are also saying that Mahipal had an argument with the wife of judge while they were about to return from buying medicines from the market.

Mahipal was a Haryana police head constable and was serving as personal security guard of the judge for two years. Reports have said that Mahipal informed Judge Krishan Kant about the incident on the phone after committing the crime.

In video footage of the incident recorded by one of the witness present at the spot, Mahipal can be seen with the gun in his hand. He was also seen trying to push Dhruv inside the car, as blood gushed from Dhruv's head. After failing to drag Dhruv inside the car, Mahipal fled from the scene in the judge's Honda City, leaving Dhruv on the road and was arrested by the police soon.
