Chandigarh, January 24: More than 100 shanties gutted in a fire which broke  out in Gurugram's Nathupur area Thursday morning. A 7-month-old infant died in the fire. According to the reports, at least six fire tenders are present at the spot. More details are awaited.

Around 150 shanties were gutted in a major fire that broke out at a village on January 4, 2019, leaving hundreds of people, mostly daily wage earners, in temporary shelters, police said.

"During the probe it emerged that the fire was triggered from the embers of brazier which got carried by the wind in the night. First a nearby shanty caught fire and soon it spread among others, burning around 150 of them," Circle Officer, Noida 3rd, Shwetabh Pandey said.

This is the second incident in Gurugram today. Earlier in the day, an under construction building in Haryana's Gurugram collapsed in the early hours of Thursday. 20 people are feared trapped inside the building, reported IANS. Three NDRF teams and rescue personnel rushed to the site of building collapse in Ullawas, Gurugram and are involved in the rescue operations.
