New Delhi, July 23: In Gurugram, on the morning of July 20, a carjacking unfolded when two men disguised as passengers hired a Taxi. When they found a secluded spot, assaulted him, and stole his vehicle. However, the driver, assisted by another cab, pursued the thieves. The chase was aided when a herd of buffaloes appeared, causing the assailants to abandon the vehicle and flee. Two of the suspects were subsequently arrested.
Both the accused, identified as Karan and Akash Singh, hail from Gurugram. The cab driver, Babli Chaudhary, told the police officials that while waiting for passengers near a petrol pump on Dhaula-Gurgaon Road, Chaudhary was approached by three men who requested a ride to Bijwasan. As per the Times Of India, the Police complaint stated that "Along the way, one of the passengers surreptitiously entered the location into his mobile phone. Chaudhary followed the directions provided, unaware of the sinister intentions. While Chaudhary struggled to defend himself, another man on a black and red scooter arrived with a pistol. He threatened the cab driver, demanding that he hand over all his belongings and the vehicle. Fearing for his safety, Chaudhary complied and surrendered his possessions and the cab.
In a desperate bid to escape, Chaudhary jumped out of the taxi as the assailants sped away with his vehicle. Stranded, he flagged down a passing car and explained his situation to the driver, who agreed to help and pursued the stolen taxi. The chase was interrupted when a herd of buffaloes blocked the road, allowing the robbers to abandon the vehicle and flee on foot. Chaudhary then returned to the abandoned taxi, used a passerby's phone to call 112, and reported the robbery. According to the officer, the robbers had stolen his phone. A team from Kapashera police station was dispatched and arrested two of the suspects.
