The Sikh community, in India and across the world, are celebrating the 550th birth anniversary, also referred to Prakash Parv, of Guru Nanak Dev. Special kirtans are being held in gurudwaras across the globe.
The Guru Nanak Jayanti this year turned more special as the Pakistan government fulfilled a seven-decade-old demand of Indian Sikh pilgrims by connecting the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur with the Indian border. The pilgrims have been granted visa-free access to visit the shrine -- which is the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev.
