Born in Bihar's Patna, he was the son of ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur and was chosen as the tenth Guru when he was nine years old. Under Guru Gobind Ji's guidance, Khalsa, a Sikh warrior community was formed. He was also a great writer and penned many Sikh texts. In 1708, the spiritual leader declared Sikhism's Holy Scripture Guru Granth Sahib as the Guru of Sikhism.
