Chandigarh, June 24: The parole application of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the rape-convicted chief of socio-religious outfit Dera Sacha Sauda, is likely to be accepted by the Manohar Lal Khattar government in the state. The Haryana Police has recommended parole for Ram Rahim citing his "good behaviour" in the jail.

Slated to spend 20 years behind the bars, Ram Rahim recently moved a parole application, seeking his release for the purpose of "farming".

Notably, the Dera chief has shared cordial political relations with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -- the ruling party in Haryana as well as the Centre.

Haryana's Sports Minister Anil Vij has lauded Ram Rahim's efforts in various areas, including combating drug menace and promoting traditional sports among the youth.
