Chandigarh, January 17: Security has been beefed up in Panchkula and the city has been turned into a virtual fortress as the special CBI Court will pronounce the quantum of punishment today to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan and three other convicts in journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case. The police are leaving nothing to chance and have reportedly set up 17 checkpoints to maintain law and order situation in the city. The Special Court of CBI on Wednesday agreed to pronounce the quantum of punishment to Gurmeet Ram Rahim, convicted in the murder of journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati along with three others, through video conference on Thursday.  Dera Sacha Sauda. The decision comes after Haryana government on Tuesday filed an application in the CBI Special Court here, seeking the pronouncement of quantum of punishment through video-conference. The Dera chief has been found guilty of orchestrating the killing of Chhatrapati, a Sirsa-based journalist after the scribe wrote against Ram Rahim in his newspaper titled ‘Poora Sach.’ The scribe was shot in 2002, and the case was registered in 2003.
