Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Jailed For Rape And Murder, Appeals For Parole For Cultivating His Farms

Rohtak, June 21: Self-styled Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim on Friday has appealed for parole to Sunaria Jail authorities in Rohtak. According to reports, Ram Rahim applied for parole saying that he wants to farm his land in Sirsa. The appeal has been sent by the jail authorities to the district administration. The final decision on the appeal will be taken by the Haryana Government.
The self-styled godman was sentence to 20-year jail imprisonment on January 17 by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Panchkula for the murder of journalist Ramchander Chhatrapati in October 2012. Along with Ram Rahim along with three others were also convicted by the court. The hearing took place through video conference. The Dera chief has been found guilty of orchestrating the killing of Chhatrapati after the scribe wrote against Ram Rahim in his newspaper titled ‘Poora Sach’. The scribe was shot in 2002, and the case was registered in 2003. The self-styled godman was also sentenced to 20-years imprisonment for raping two of his followers in August 2017.
