Gujarat: Two People Dead, Several Injured in Electrocution Incident While Carrying 26-Feet-Tall Ganesha Idol Ahead of Ganeshotsav 2019
Just a few days ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, a tragic incident in Gujarat took place, where two people died of electrocution while carrying a 26-feet-tall Ganesha idol on Tuesday late evening. The incident took place Ankaleshwar town, where seven other people suffered electric shocks while trying to untangle an overhead electric wire.
Gujarat, August 30: Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi 2019, a tragic incident in Gujarat took place, where two people died of electrocution while carrying a 26-feet-tall Ganesha idol on Tuesday late evening. According to a Hindustan Times report, a viral video of the event showed that members of the Gujarat Housing Board Society (GHB) group, which organised the event, were trying to remove the high tension wire tangled in idol’s head with a bamboo stick. The wire, however, fell and around nine members, who were pushing a three-feet-long trolley in the society, suffered electric shocks.

Other than the two people who died in the tragedy, reportedly, the condition of two others is in critical condition. The idol was ordered from Surat and the incident happened when it was being carried to the society.
Ganesh Chaturthi this year is kickstarting from September 2 and there is excitement among the devotees to welcome Bappa and seek his blessings.
