Jamnagar, October 6: In a horrifying incident in Mandasan village, Jamjodhpur taluka, a woman was brutally attacked by her estranged husband, resulting in severe injuries. Ramila Makwana, a 35-year-old Anganwadi worker, was assaulted with a sword, leading to the severing of her thumb and two fingers. The attack occurred on Friday, Ocotber 4, after Ramila filed a suit for alimony against her husband, Vipul Makwana, with whom she has been separated for the past 10 months. The confrontation escalated after Vipul questioned her about her work at the Anganwadi and a hospital.
The incident unfolded when Ramila arrived at her Anganwadi centre as she usually does. According to a report by the Times of India, Vipul confronted her about her dual employment at the Anganwadi and a nearby hospital, which seemed to ignite a simmering tension between the couple. What started as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a life-threatening situation as Vipul's anger boiled over. He suddenly retrieved a sword he had hidden in the bathroom, launching a brutal attack on Ramila. As the attack unfolded, Ramila attempted to defend herself from the onslaught. In the process, she suffered severe injuries not only to her fingers but also to her legs and head. Reports indicate that she required approximately 30 stitches to address the extensive damage caused by the sword. After the attack, Vipul fled the scene, leaving Ramila bleeding and in critical condition. Villagers immediately rushed to her aid, calling for an ambulance to transport her to a private hospital in Upleta for emergency treatment. Following the attack, she filed a complaint at the Sheth Vadala police station, accusing her husband of attacking her due to the maintenance suit she had filed against him in a Ranavav court.
