Mumbai, August 28: In a shocking incident, a man died by suicide after he was fed beef by his live-in partner in Gujarat's Surat district. The alleged incident took place on June 27 when the man was found hanging at his home in Udhna's Patel Nagar. The police also found a suicide note in which the man claimed that his partner Sonam Ali and her brother Mukhtar Ali were torturing him.

The deceased in his suicide note also alleged that the duo forced him to eat beef due to which he has taken the extreme step. After the incident, the police booked the woman and her brother for abetting the man to commit suicide. The incident came to light after the decease's mother Vinadevi lodged a complaint. Police officials said that Sonam had reported Singh's death on June 27. The initial complaint stated that Singh was found hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta. Based on the preliminary investigation, the police had registered an accidental death case.

As per reports, Singh was not in touch with his family after he moved in with Sonam. Singh's mother also claimed that they were unsure whether her son and Sonam had married. Meanwhile, Singh's mother learned about her son's death when her relatives told her about the suicide note being uploaded on Rahul's Facebook account. Cops said that Singh had posted a suicide note the day he ended his life.

Speaking to the Times of India, an officer said, "In the suicide note, Singh allegedly wrote that he was threatened to be killed if he would not consume beef. He claimed that he was ending life due to the torture. He did not elaborate on how he was being tortured." The officer also said that Singh had come to the city with his mother and sister a few months ago. When Singh told his family about his wish to marry Sonam, they objected. Police claimed that both Singh and Sonam were living together, however, they couldn't find any document related to their marriage.
