Ahmedabad, September 30: In a tragic incident, 21 people lost their lives after a bus overturned near Trishuliya Ghat in Ambaji town of Gujarat's Banaskantha district. According to reports, there were 50 passengers on the bus at the time of the incident. Over dozen people also sustained injuries in the mishap. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. After receiving the information about the tragic incident, police and district authorities immediately reached the spot. A team of 108 also arrived at the spot. Currently, rescue operations are underway. However, the exact cause of the accident is not known. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident. He tweeted, "Devastating news from Banaskantha. I am extremely pained by the loss of lives due to an accident. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. The local administration is providing all possible help to the injured. May they recover soon."

Earlier in the day, another road accident in Gujarat claimed the lives of five people. The accident took place on a highway between Ahmedabad and Vadodara after a truck collided with a car. According to reports, all the deceased belonged to a same family. The police have started investigation in the mishap.
