Ahmedabad, August 11: Flood situation in Gujarat continued to remain grim as several districts of the state including Vododara, Morbi and Charmadi were submerged in floodwaters. Due to torrential rains in the state, at least 19 people have been killed in rain-related mishaps. Teams of Indian Army, Indian Navy, and NDRF teams have been carrying out rescue operations in affected areas. On Saturday, the IAF personnel rescued a girl in flood affected Jamnagar in Gujarat. Normal life was affected in Vadodara after water level in Vishwamitri River swelled due to incessant rain in Gujarat. In the wake of the current situation in the state, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team on Saturday rescued 47 students and 6 teachers from Kasturba Gandhi Girls School in Morbi district. The team also rescued 85 stranded residents including two pregnant women and two toddlers in Belthangady's Charmadi area.

According to reports, Gujarat had received 77.80 per cent of annual average rainfall, with south Gujarat receiving 98.31 per cent rainfall, Met department data showed as of Saturday morning. Reports inform that in eight hours on Saturday, Tankara tehsil of Morbi district received the highest amount of rainfall in the state at 268 mm, followed by Morbi tehsil at 259 mm, Dhrangadhra in Surendranagar at 209 mm and Rapar in Kutch at 209 mm.
