Gujarat Man Glorifies Pulwama Attacker on Facebook, Gets Arrested for ‘Anti-National’ Post
According to reports, the man, identified as Vijay Patel had posted the objectionable post on Facebook and also circulated on WhatsApp groups.
Surat, February 18: Days after the terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, in which 40 jawans lost their lives, a man in Gujarat was arrested for allegedly posting an objectionable post glorifying the Pulwama attacker. Reports inform that the man, in his Facebook post, praised the attacker, who rammed a vehicle laden with explosives into a CPRF convoy on February 14, killing as many as 40 CRPF personnel. However, Patel, a resident of Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad, drew flak from several users on Facebook and later deleted the post. According to details by Police, the post in Hindi said that the ongoing attacks in Jammu and Kashmir are happening as we have been suppressing Kashmiris. "We have to pay the price for suppressing Kashmiris. We might call the attackers terrorists, but for them, they are separatists, who sacrifice their life. According to the HT report, a spokesperson of Ahmedabad Police informed that the accused arrested by the cyber security cell. The official added saying that the 37-year-old, who works at a medicine shop, later deleted his Facebook post. However, the cyber cell team traced the post’s origin to his account and arrested him.
A similar incident was reported from Karnataka, where angry locals burnt a teacher's house after she posted objectionable post praising Pakistan. The woman, who lives in Kadabi Shivapur village in Belagavi, was arrested and sent to judicial custody. According to Police, a case was registered u/s 121 A, 153 & 153 A of IPC into the matter.
