Surat, August 31: Heavy rains across Gujarat have caused widespread flooding, severely impacting several areas in Jamnagar. Amidst the Gujarat flood crisis, a man frustrated by the lack of basic facilities and the perceived inaction of local officials consumed phenyl in a dramatic protest in Jamnagar.

According to a report published by NDTV, the man has been identified as Vipul Bhambi. Bhambi had previously lodged a complaint against the District Development Officer (DDO) during a presentation at the Jamnagar Zilla Panchayat. In his complaint, he questioned the effectiveness of officials if basic issues remain unresolved. His frustration culminated in him consuming phenyl in front of the officers. According to the report, sources indicate that residents of Gokul Dham, Pranami, and Dwarkesh societies in Chela 2 village are suffering due to inadequate infrastructure. Floods Wreck Havoc in Gujarat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an orange alert for several states today, August 31, warning of heavy rainfall expected in Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. In Gujarat, which has already been experiencing heavy rainfall in recent days, the forecast indicates that very heavy downpours will persist in numerous districts. The IMD noted that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in isolated places across all districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, including Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
