Ahmedabad, August 1: Heavy rainfall in the state has led to flash floods in Vadodara. The city received a staggering 442 millimetres of rainfall in just 12 hours on Wednesday. Operations at Vadodara Airport will remain halted till 3 pm today due to water-logging and garbage accumulation on the runway. According to an ANI update, 5 trains have been cancelled, 2 trains are short terminated, and 2 trains have been short originated due to heavy rains and waterlogging, in Vadodara Junction railway station and its surrounding areas.
The state government had asked the local administration to shift people from low-lying areas in Vadodara if required as water entered into houses in several localities. Several places in central Gujarat witnessed a heavy downpour, registering as much as 10.5 inches during the last 24 hours.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held a meeting on Wednesday evening to review the situation in Vadodara, and asked IAS officers Vinod Rao and Lochan Sehra to rush to the city to provide guidance to the local administration in tackling the situation, it added.
