Ahmedabad, August 28: Heavy rainfall is expected to lash Gujarat on Wednesday, especially in the Saurashtra and Kutch region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. The weather agency has said that isolated places over Gujarat and its neighbouring states are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the coming days. The IMD has also issued red, orange and yellow warnings for various regions across Gujarat ahead of heavy rainfall prediction. In its weather bulletin, the IMD said heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Saurashtra, Kutch in Gujarat and at isolated places over Rajasthan, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa. Southern areas including Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala are also likely to receive heavy showers on Wednesday.
The IMD said that a fresh low pressure area is likely to develop over north Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around 29th August. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning very likely at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The weather agency has also advised fishermen not to venture into these areas for the next few days.
