Gujarat: BJP Government Waives Off Electricity Bill Dues Worth Rs 650 Crore of Farmers

Over six lakh customers from rural areas of Gujarat will be benefitted by the waiver.

Gandhinagar, December 18: The Gujarat government, led by chief minister Vijay Rupani, on Tuesday, announced to waive off pending electricity bill of farmers of the state. The BJP-ruled state said it will waive off power bill dues worth Rs 650 crore.

Over six lakh customers from rural areas of Gujarat will be benefitted by the waiver, said the state government. It also announced that electricity will be restored on payment of just Rs 500 out of the entire pending amount of the electricity bill.

On Monday, immediately after taking over as the new Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Kamal Nath and Bhupesh Baghel waived loans of farmers.
