Ahmedabad, August 10: At least four people were killed and several were injured after a building collapsed in Gujarat on Friday night. According to a tweet by ANI, a 3-storey apartment building collapsed in Pragatinagar in Nadiad city in Kheda district. Reports inform that rescue operations are currently underway. Heavy rainfall in Gujarat has thrown normal life out of gear. Several low-lying villages have been flooded. The state has so far received 61.55 per cent of its average annual rainfall, official data showed Parts of Gujarat have been reeling under flood-like situations due to torrential rainfall. Reports inform that more than 21,000 people have been shifted to safer places in south Gujarat region over the last few days.

On Friday, the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office (CMO) informed that gates of the Sardar Sarovar dam were opened for the first time after installation on Friday. The decision was taken in order to maintain the permitted water level of 131-meter.
In May, a similar building collapse incident was reported from Gujarat's Surat where one person lost his life after wall of a house collapsed in Vesu area. Rescue workers had arrived at the spot to assess the damage and to remove the debris from the spot.
