Surat, October 16: In a shocking incident of sexual assault against minors, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in Surat district of Gujarat by a neighbour. According to a report published n Hindustan Times, the girl went missing on the night of October 13, and her body was found from a locked room of the neighbour on October 15. The accused is identified as Anil Yadav and reported to be between 18 to 20 years. The room of the accused is on the ground floor of the two-storey building.

According to the report, Yadav is absconding since Saturday night. The victim lived with her family and two siblings on the first floor of the same building. As per the police, the victim’s family is not from Gujarat. When cops conducted further investigation, they broke open the locked door of Yadav’s room and found the body of the victim. The police suspected that the accused might have fled to his native place in Bihar. The family of the girl refused to accept her body until the police arrest the absconding accused. The family members supported by their community have been protesting outside Simer hospital demanding justice. Meanwhile, two teams of the Gujarat police have left for Bihar to nab the accused.

The incident came to light just a days after a migrant worker from Bihar raped a 14-month-old girl of Thakor community on September 28 in Himmatnagar. It led to a series of violence against migrant workers. According to reports, around 40,000 migrant workers have fled from the state. The police arrested the accused, Raghuvir Sahu. He worked in a ceramic factory.
