Srinagar, September 10: In a shocking incident, educationalist and writer Rita Jatinder died during a live telecast on Monday. Jatinder was appearing as a guest on a regional Doordarshan TV in Srinagar when she collapsed. The 86-year-old writer was called for an interview about her life and achievements on the channel's show 'Good Morning J&K'.
Show host Zahid Mukhtar told IANS that before collapsing Jatinder was imitating the now ailing Bollywood star Dilip Kumar. He further added that when she collapsed everyone thought that she was acting and it took a few moments to realise something was seriously wrong. She was rushed to a hospital when she did not respond. She was later declared dead.

Jatinder was a former Secretary of the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in the Jammu and Kashmir government. According to reports, Jatinder was supposed to attend three shows in Srinagar, including one for Radio Kashmir.
