Mumbai, April 6: Actor and Congress candidate from Mumbai North, Urmila Matondkar was seen celebrating the joyous occasion of Gudi Padwa in Mumbai on Saturday. The 45-year old leader was seen dressed in a traditional attire along with several others, marking the beginning of the New Year in Maharashtra. On joining the Congress party, she dismissed all apprehensions on her political role, saying, "I am here to stay - even after the elections." Gudi Padwa celebrations are marked with great pomp across Maharashtra. Houses across the state celebrate the joyous festival with family members erecting the traditional 'Gudi' a long bamboo stick with new silk cloth, garland and a neem twig with a silver or metal pot on it. As per Hindu mythology, the long 'Gudi' symbolises victory and inspires people to prosper materially and spiritually.
