New Delhi, January 18: Militants carried out two grenade attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, including one in the Lal Chowk area of the city.  According to reports, the attack took place near the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployment at Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower), which in the heart of Srinagar. According to reports, Jaish-e-Mohammed claims responsibility for attacks in Kashmir Valley. No casualties have been reported so far. The attacks come less than 10 days ahead of Republic Day celebrations.

According to details by Police, a private car, which was parked on the roadside, was partly damaged due to the explosion. Reports inform that this is the second such grenade attack in the same area in less than 24 hours. In a similar incident on Thursday, two traffic personnel were injured in a grenade attack by militants on a security picket at Zero Bridge in Srinagar.  A police official confirmed the incident and said that militants hurled a grenade at security forces' on Rajbagh side. At least two cops were hurt in the attack.

According to a report by PTI, the attack on Thursday took place less than 100 metres from the National Conference headquarters and the local office of the All India Radio.
