Noida, August 23: The chief minister’s office on Thursday has asked the administration of Gautam Budh Nagar to submit a final and detailed report into the Shahberi twin building collapse on July 17 at the earliest. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, a magisterial inquiry, headed by the additional district magistrate (ADM), was ordered after the incident and the report was to be submitted within 15 days. However, it was delayed due to various departments were late in filing the response.
Yogi Adityanath’s office has pulled up the concerned officials and asked them to submit the report immediately. Various departments including Greater Noida authority, police, revenue, industries and land acquisition departments have been asked to submit their individual reports asking their suggestions to stop illegal constructions in Shahberi.
According to the report, all departments, except the Greater Noida authority, have filed the reports. “The CM’s office has asked us to complete the report as soon as possible. We have got reports from all departments but the authority’s report is still awaited, and that is the most crucial report of all,” reported Hindustan Times quoting Diwakar Singh, ADM as saying.
The authority has been given a deadline of August 26 to submit its report. The authority has also been asked to submit details about the number of times it asked for police to take action against illegal construction. In addition to this, the authority is also required to submit names of the officials responsible for the Shahberi collapse.
On the night of July 17, two buildings were collapsed in which nine people were killed. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the family of those killed in the building collapse. According to reports, Greater Noida authorities had acquired land in Shahberi. Villagers protested against the acquisition and moved court against this. The Supreme Court later cancelled the purchase.
