Mumbai, April 24: A shocking incident of rape and murder has come to light from Maharashtra, where a 12-year-old tribal girl was raped and killed by unidentified assailants in Gondia. The alleged rape and murder occurred on Sunday, April 21, in the Deori taluka of Gondia. The alleged incident has led the villagers to a violent protest in the areas as the accused continues to be on the run.
According to a report in the Times of India, the alleged incident came to light when the Class 6 student’s semi-naked and decomposed body was found in the Ganutola armed outpost limits. This area is reportedly said to have a strong presence of guerrillas, thereby forcing the police to tread with caution. Police officials said that a blood-smeared boulder was also found at the scene of the crime scene. The place is 3 km off the victim's village at Gothanpar. It is reported that the minor girl of Gondia tribal went missing on Friday, April 19. nearly 11 hours later, her decomposed body was allegedly found in the Dhawalkhedi jungles.
Sources privy to the case said that the girl's decomposed body injury marks on the head and abrasions on her face and neck. Police officials also said that the boulder found at the crime scene wasn’t moved, thereby suggesting that the minor girl was lifted with her head and face being repeatedly smashed against it. Cops also learned that the girl went missing after she attended a wedding in the neighbourhood. Local villagers are said to have spotted the minor girl riding a pillion on a bike at around 8 pm the same day. However, the villages refused to identify the person riding the bike. An officer who is part of the investigation team said, "She’s likely to have resisted rape, triggering a violent reaction from perpetrators. The girl could have threatened to expose them or tried to raise an alarm.
