Mumbai, July 20: A doctor by profession, 30-year-old Heena Hingad from Malegaon has decided to live rest of her life as Sadhvi. Although she had an excellent academic performance and was a gold medalist who was also doing well professionally, she was keen on living her life as a priest. Heena's family members are preachers of Jainism. As per a news report in the Times of India, she took diksha in Surat from Acharya Yashoverma Surishwar, to begin a new chapter of her life.
Her uncle Neeraj Kicha was quoted in the report as saying, "She always felt that medicine was not her calling. It was her father's dream to see her become a doctor and which she fulfiled."
He further stated that the seeds of spirituality were sowed in her mind from an early age, when she was 17-years-old, and has also spent 45 days in Palitana as part of uthhan tapa, during which, she expressed her desire to become a sadhvi, but her parents asked her to wait.
In a similar case, a 24-year-old boy named Mokshesh Shah, a chartered accountant had taken diksha and became a monk. Shah had a business which has an annual turnover of Rs 100 crore and used to live with his family in Kolhapur of Maharashtra. Another boy, 12-year-old Bhavya Shah also took up diksha in April.
At Heena's diksha ceremony, four other priests and a monk were present along with Acharya Yashovarma. As per the news report, she is the eldest among six other siblings. The family's native place is in Pali, Rajasthan, but have settled in Malegoan of Maharashtra from past two generations.
