Godse Remark Row: Kamal Haasan Says ‘Not Afraid of Being Arrested, Every Religion Has Its Own Terrorist’

Chennai, May 17: Amid incidents such as hurling stones and footwear during his poll campaign, Kamal Haasan Friday said that he is not afraid of being arrested. The Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder, asserting it as an advice, said that if he gets arrested it will only create more problems. He also added that the quality of polity is going down and "every religion has its own terrorists". "I am not afraid of being arrested. Let them arrest me. If they do that it will only create more problems. It is not a warning but only advice," Haasan said, adding, "I feel the quality of polity is going down. I don't feel threatened. Every religion has its own terrorist, we cannot claim that we are sanctimonious. Haasan in a tweet also urged to his party workers and fans to maintain decorum. "Dear MNM family and fans, this is an acid test for our decorum and demeanour. Do not listen to their noises and be drawn into their violence. They are extremists who are slighted by the Truth. Naalai Namadhey (Tomorrow belongs to us)!" he said.

On Thursday, a ruckus erupted at actor-turned-politician's public meeting in Tamil Nadu's Aravakurichi after two miscreants allegedly hurled stones and eggs at the dais. In the incident, no one was injured and MNM chief escorted safely. A day earlier on May 15, footwear was hurled towards a vehicle from which the actor was addressing a poll meeting in Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency.
